At TYF, our vision is to use adventure education to cultivate resilient, adaptable individuals who are well-prepared to thrive in the face of adversity. We believe our greatest contribution to making this happen comes from our immersive education programmes delivered in dynamic natural environments.

We see nature as the world’s most powerful classroom. In our many years of experience in education, we’ve seen the power that our adventure learning philosophy has had when it comes to shaping students. Our programs not only enhance students’ personal and social development but also ignite a sense of wonder and a lifelong passion for the natural world.

At the heart of our vision is the belief that learning from experience, whether successful or not, is a cornerstone of personal growth. We encourage students to embrace life’s ups and downs, cultivating adaptability as they navigate through the ever-changing landscapes of both the outdoors and life itself.

We understand the importance of connecting these new learnings with academic performance. For primary and secondary students this means bringing the curriculum to life and linking to subjects such as geography, science and PHSE. For higher education, courses are tailored to your specialist subjects.

From stand-alone workshops to fully-catered residential trips, we provide courses that can be quickly tailored to fit your needs. Our bespoke programmes work across all stages and forms of learning – from primary schools to academy trusts and universities.

TYF believe in creating programmes that are not just fun experiences to look back on with a smile but have the ability to change lives. As educators, we all know that when students are engaged and enjoying themselves, their capacity to learn multiplies exponentially. Our guides tap into that potential and, through reflection and review, bring out the key learning outcomes.

Activity: Only through real adventure in authentic environments can the characteristics of personal growth and teamwork be put to the test, enabling learning to occur naturally.

Reviewing: Without the opportunity to reflect on their experiences, the potential outcomes can be lost. Our guides are skilled in a variety of techniques which assist students to recognise the learning and growth gained from their own experiences.

Transfer: This is where TYF has the power to change lives. During their time with us, groups are given the chance to apply their newfound knowledge across various situations, reinforcing the lessons learned. Most importantly, our guides help students understand how the information, strategies, and skills they’ve acquired can be applied to new contexts, both in school and in life. This process fosters adaptable, resilient young people equipped with the skills to face life’s challenges.

“We love the whole programme we had. All of your staff have
been superb, very professional, knowledgeable, fun and engaged with the children. The boys have reflected how much they have enjoyed being with TYF staff compared to other places they have been. It makes a real difference when they are not rushed or bossed about, getting encouragement and getting to know them as individuals is truly valued. Passion for the natural connection is a strong foundation for all of the outdoor activities and the boys have come away confident they would like to take each activity a little further next time they are around the beach. We have enjoyed our time once again.

Thank you for inspiring us and making our time with you so special.”

“It was challenging and rewarding for the students. It took them out of their comfort zones. It created good memories and built resilience, confidence and self-esteem.

It helped with developing teamwork, communication, reflection, building lasting friendships, and it pushed the pupils to their limits, and it provided maximum excitement.

The guides were amazing, had excellent facilitating skills and were flexible and adaptable to the group’s needs.

The whole week has been fantastic.”
