Our Outdoor First Aid Course prepares you to deal with the likely injuries and incidents that can occur during outdoor activities, whether for work or personal adventure. This 16-hour course gives you the practical skills, confidence, and decision-making ability to manage real emergencies across a wide range of environments.

Designed for outdoor professionals and adventurous individuals, the training goes beyond basic first aid, focusing on realistic scenarios, prolonged care, and risks specific to outdoor settings.

This course is ideal for:

  • Outdoor instructors, guides, and coaches
  • Teachers and group leaders working off-site
  • Duke of Edinburgh, expedition, and residential staff
  • Mountain, water, and adventure activity leaders
  • Anyone spending significant time in remote or outdoor environments

No previous first aid qualification is required.

First Aid Outdoor first aid course scenario training

Our course blends essential medical knowledge with hands-on, scenario-based training.

You will cover:

  • Managing casualties in remote locations
  • Primary survey and life-threatening conditions
  • CPR and use of AEDs
  • Catastrophic bleeding and shock
  • Head, spinal, and musculoskeletal injuries
  • Burns, hypothermia, and heat-related illness
  • Asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, and seizures
  • Bites, stings, and outdoor-specific hazards
  • Improvised splinting and casualty evacuation
  • Prolonged care when emergency services are delayed

Training is practical, engaging, and based on real outdoor situations.

  • Duration: 16 hours (typically delivered over 2 days)
  • Delivery: Practical, scenario-based, outdoor-focused
  • Assessment: Continuous practical assessment
  • Certification: Recognised Outdoor First Aid certificate (valid for 3 years)

Courses can be delivered at our centre or at your location.

£130 per person
*Minimum four people to run

We run regular First Aid courses throughout the year, as well as private courses for schools, organisations, and outdoor teams.
