The Surfer’s Guide to Risk Taking

Posted on November 11, 2012 by Andy Middleton No Comments

Interesting article from the 99 about what surfing can teach us about risk and commitment. I’ve often used wave riding in my teaching, picking up on many of the points here – particularly the angles about the best rides and biggest risk is on the steepest part of the wave. It’s also good to reflect on the fact that part-commitment really doesn’t work when wave catching – full intent is required, and more so when the waves are steeper.

TYF’s surf time policy pays off : )
