Sam Charlesworth

TYF Head Guide

Sam’s dad got him into kayaking at nine years old and that was it…he was hooked!

It started as something for him and his dad to do on a sunday afternoon – but soon grew when Sam met Deb Pinniger who was organising a youth trip to the Indian Himalayas to paddle the Zanskar Gorge. For one of the training weekends they visited ‘The Bitches’ Tidal Race (according to Sam – one of the most beautiful and intimidating places to paddle in the UK) where he met TYF Head of Adventure Jon Haylock, who introduced Sam to the TYF family, taking part in a session as a trainee guide.

Now three years on, Sam is still here – as long as he’s in the sea he is having a good time, whether it’s introducing people to the wonders of the water or ‘having it large’ with friends.
