How we work

TYF are champions for radical change in the way we run our businesses, public services and personal lives, focusing on the shift that is needed to restore humankind to one planet, sustainable living and rebuilding the resilience of the natural systems that support life.

TYF have a comfortingly similar, yet wonderfully different approach that’s based on strong, applied principles:

  • We bring eco rather than ego to the design process
  • We make knowledge work for free
  • We create understanding, action and change
  • We believe in the power of unreasonable goals
  • We work in jaw droppingly beautiful locations
  • We walk the talk, with conviction

Our success is evident by our track record of innovative, effective projects.

Design, learning, play and provision of maximum benefit for minimum resource use is in the DNA  of everything that we do:

DESIGN – design thinking leads our focus on the results we’re trying to create, whether it’s a new adventure experience or a community regeneration strategy.  Our approach aims to avoid drawing board oversights by engaging organisations with the Triple Top Line, placing focus where its needed on rethinking and redesigning systems from the start.

LEARN – learning with our customers, suppliers and global network of thinkers and doers to create shared value ensures that we collect the most relevant information, ideas and stories to share with others best placed to make change happen.

PLAY – a spirit of play ensures that creativity, openness, adventure and a sense of aesthetic are in everything we create, deliver or design; play informed by improvisation, art adventure and nature.

PROVIDE – we provide the resources to facilitate change, enabling real action, with the least environmental impact, carbon and time.

TYF applies biomimicry, the ideas and strategies from nature to human products, processes, and systems to bring both inspiration and proven solutions that can help resolve the complex and dynamic problems facing business and society.

Biomimicry is the conscious emulation of nature’s genius. For over 3 billion years nature has had to figure out what works and what doesn’t – evolution eliminates unsuccessful strategies.

Nature provides startling insight into new ways of seeing collaboration, waste, resource efficiency and innovation:

  • Nature runs on sunlight
  • Nature recycles everything
  • Nature rewards cooperation
  • Nature banks on diversity
  • Nature demands local expertise
  • Nature curbs excesses from within
  • Nature taps the power limits
  • Nature fits form and function

Knowing the context of what is going on around us, in our environment, our economies and in our society will enable organisations to see their place in the wider system and create the space to plan for tomorrow.

TYF helps with the recognition of the failures in current ways of thinking and the systems which go along with it, giving opportunity for creativity and innovation, to redesign how business works and ensure it makes a positive difference the world around it.

Imagine if you could take your organisation wherever you wanted, no fear, no regrets, no barriers…this is Pure Vision.

The ability to drive a business, within the context of what is going on around us, to a level which not only benefits the Triple Bottom Line of people, planet and profit, but moves towards the Triple Top Line, placing focus where its needed on rethinking and redesigning systems from the start.

Once the vision is in place, the steps toward it may not be crystal clear but the direction is set and the plan for the journey can begin.

How we think, our perceptions and mindset are often barriers to challenging old ways of thinking and to pursuing positive change.

As individuals, we must realise the importance of looking at our strengths and weaknesses, what drives us and what stops us doing the things we want to do and are able to achieve.

At organisational level, we assist in identifying which individuals and teams can benefit the most, we give individuals the self confidence, insight and awareness to drive changes into their lives and work that have a profound effect on the way they think and the actions they take.
