Previous experience

Sit-on-top Kayaking

The beauty of sit-on-top kayaks is that they encourage exploration of the coast in relative safety. If you have taken part in one of our ½ day kayak adventures you will have the required knowledge to head out and explore sheltered waters. Otherwise, we require you to have at least 3 days of previous paddling experience.

Sea Kayaking

Due to the advanced and sometimes committing nature of the Pembrokeshire coastline, we require a minimum of a BCU/UKCC 3 star certificate/experience for sheltered coastal paddling. For open water and Island exploration we require you to be BCU/UKCC 4 star standard paddlers or accompanied by a 5 star leader.

We will happily rent kayaks to suitably qualified Canoe Wales/BCU coaches; all we require is to see your membership card.

Surfing

The beauty of surfing is that with little experience you can hit the beach and have a fantastic time learning to surf in relative safety. If you have taken part in one of our ½ day surf lessons you will have the required knowledge to hit the surf and continue to improve. A little water confidence and swimming ability is all you need to discover this amazing sport.

Stand-up Paddle boarding

The difference with a SUP board is it’s versatility, carve up small waves at the beach or cruise along the coast on a glassy day, the SUP board can do it all.
Essentially all you need is a little water confidence and swimming ability to discover this amazing sport.

If you are unsure if you’re suitably experienced to hire a Surfboard, Sit-on-top Kayak or Sea Kayak please give us a call to discuss your previous experience and what you intend to do.We will also need to show you a brief safety video before heading out.

Our advice

Sit-on-top Kayaks

Sit-on-top kayaks are ideal for sheltered water exploration; we strongly recommend launching from a sheltered harbour or beach depending on the days weather conditions. We can supply you with an inflatable roof rack at small extra charge.

We have an extensive knowledge of the surrounding area and will happily advise you where to head to and the areas of the coast suitable for the days forecast. However, this is not a replacement for your own assessment of your own ability and experience.

Sea Kayaks

Surfboards, Body boards & Stand-up Paddle boards

You are free to head to any beach, we are on hand to recommend the perfect beach break whilst taking in to account your ability and the days conditions. If you don’t have a roof rack we can supply you with an inflatable roof rack at small extra charge.

Terms & Conditions of Hiring Equipment

In the following Terms and Conditions “The Client” means any individual who using equipment hired from the TYF Group, and “we”, “our”, “us”, “ourselves” means The TYF Group and any associated staff. The term booking refers to the process of confirming and paying for equipment hire for a certain period.1. Making a booking for equipment hire
A booking will not become confirmed until payment in full is received.

2. Payment
Full payment is required upon booking. Payment can be made in the form of cash, cheque or credit/debit card in person or over the telephone. We will require credit/debit card details to act as a deposit, the full retail cost of any unreturned, lost or damaged equipment will be charged to this card.

3. Changes by you
Any changes made to a confirmed booking by the Client must be made in writing to us. Wherever possible, we will try to accommodate the changes. Any price increases incurred to us through the change in arrangements must be paid in full immediately. No refund will be given if the price is lower than the originally agreed price.

4. Cancellation by you
In the event of the client wishing to cancel a confirmed booking the following charges will apply. A cancellation is only effective when we receive written notification from the client.

Period to commencement – cancellation Charge

14 + days prior = 0% charge
14 – 2 days prior = 25% charge
2 – 0 days prior = 100% charge

5. Late return of equipment by you
Any equipment not returned by 5.30pm on the last day of hire will be charged in full for another days hire, each day until the equipment is returned.

6. Changes by us
We reserve the right to make changes at any time to the services we provide which become necessary due to circumstances beyond our control.

7. Cancellation by us
In the event of cancellation by us we will firstly offer an alternative package or date and if unacceptable to the client we will refund full payment.

8. Price Changes
We reserve the right to alter the price of any service offered at any time if this proves to be necessary, we will endeavor to give the client early notification of such increase.

9. Weather
In the interest of the clients safety we reserve the right to refuse/cancel equipment hire due to unsuitable weather conditions. In the event of us cancelling a hire agreement, we will provide the client with an alternative date for hire or a credit note to the full value; if this is unsuitable to the client we will provide a refund to the full value of the cancelled services.

10. Vouchers/discounts
Gift vouchers are not available for equipment hire. Vouchers/discounts are at times available as a bonus for booking on guided activities with us. Vouchers expire one year from the date of issue. Vouchers can not be redeemed for cash value. Any price difference between the voucher and the cost of the alternative product must be paid immediately. No refund will be given if a lower priced product is selected.

11. Liability
We will not accept liability for personal injury or property damage sustained by a client or any third party.

12. Client Safety
The Client remains responsible during the period of hire to act in the best interest safety with regards themselves and any third party.

13. Nuisance and Abusive Clients
We reserve the right to exclude a client from our premises and refuse to provide a service if we believe the client to be causing a nuisance or to be abusive to the staff and other clients on the course. We do not accept any responsibility for any liability, loss expenses or damages arising from the nuisance or abusive behavior of the client. Any monies paid by the client are not returnable.

14. Alcohol & Drugs
We reserve the right to exclude the client from any services provided by ourselves, if we feel the client is unfit to participate in the service on offer.

15. Client Belongings
We do not accept any responsibility of any kind for the client’s property of any description, including monies, luggage, baggage and vehicle. Property must in all circumstances be the sole responsibility of the client.

16. The TYF Group Property
The client shall be liable for any damages occurred to our property. The client will be asked to pay the cost of making good the damage prior to the service end.
