Adventure days

Put your class or group somewhere unfamiliar. In an environment that puts them on edge. Their senses become receptive to what is around. Wide grins display enjoyment, and eyes betray their excitement. They know, deep down, that it’s safe, and they’ve an expert Guide keeping watch. They tread carefully, gauging the strengths of their team - who are they going to need; who will need them?

The familiarity of our everyday lives hides many things. Out here in this new land, new horizons open up and possibilities appear everywhere. Seaweed is not just slippery - it grows in forests; rocks you normally see in stone monuments have texture and warmth. This is a different world.

TYF Adventure Days can be delivered to groups of young people, aged 8 and over and provide a taste of the unknown, taking them in a new direction. A few hours of commitment is all it will take to expand their comfort zone and develop their self-esteem and team-working skills, whether they complete their first coasteer, stand on their first wave or top out on their first climb.

TYF Adventure Days provide a wealth of rich experiences which are useful back in the classroom.  Topics like balancing, forces, propulsion and vectors can be explained in terms of propelling a kayak or setting up a belay.  If teachers need some guidance in linking these experiences to the curriculum, we'd be happy to deliver development sessions during inset days.
